DIY Mechanics - Bottom Brackets

01/27/2008 - 10:00am
01/27/2008 - 1:00pm

Learn how to overhaul, adjust, maintain and fine tune a bike's bottom bracket (the axel, bearings, cups and lockring a bike's crank and pedals turn on).

Traditional adjustable cup bottom brackets are preferred and will be the most comprehensive to learn adjustments. Adjustable cup bottom brackets are found on most older bikes (pre '90s) that have 3-piece cranks. Cartridge bearing bottom brackets (the current standard) will also be covered but can not be serviced, only replaced.

A new bottom bracket can be installed in this class. Please purchase a new bottom bracket at your local bike shop if you plan to install at this class. WTB does not stock bottom brackets for purchase.

A suggested donation of $15 is recommended for participation in this class. Ball bearings, grease and other supplies are included.
