This course is 8 sessions beginning September 20th, meeting once a week every Monday from 7pm-10 through November 8th. This class is being taught by West Town Bikes Program Instructor, Aaron Smith.

Week one will cover history of West Town Bikes, shop policies, types of bikes, anatomy of a bicycle, names of tools, some basic bike maintenance and more.

Participants must provide a project bicycle to work on. Project bikes can be arranged for before the start of class if needed. Project bikes may be stored at the shop for the duration of the course but must leave by the end. Participants using their current bike may bring it each week to work on and ride out if the night’s work is fully completed. Project bikes best suited for this class is a multi-speed derailleur bike with cable activated brakes. A complete bike is highly recommended for this class.

Basic supplies are included in this class such as bearings, cables and cable housing. Additional parts and accessories can be purchased from Ciclo Urbano, or from the inventory of used parts at West Town Bikes. Often used parts of the same vintage of the bike being repaired work best. Participants in the Build-A-Bike class receive a 20% discount at Ciclo Urbano on parts and accessories during the course.
